The control board (otherwise known as “PCB” or “Module”) is the electronic unit that controls the programs in your appliance. If there is a fault with the PCB, there is nothing that can be done except for having it replaced.
If your tumble dryer is suffering from a faulty PCB, you will be pleased to know that at least you have landed at the right place to help you out!
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Switch off Your Appliance
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
Step 2 - Remove the Top of The Appliance
To remove the top of the appliance you just need to undo the screws that are holding it in place.
Step 3 - Remove the Control Panel
The next step is to take off the control panel, which again is simply held in place with some screws. With the screws removed the control panel can drop down, and you will then have the elusive PCB in your sights.
Step 4 - Remove the Old Control Board
The best thing to do is to start by removing the electrical connectors from the old board (on this model there is no need to take a photo - as they only fit in one position back on the new board) You may need to release a catch on one of the connectors in order for it to be released.
Step 5 - Fit the New Control Board
With all the electrical connections removed, you can now pop the board out of the control panel just by releasing the clips that are holding into place.
Grab your new control board, and ensure that the control shaft is able to fit right through the circuit board (so you have to make sure the shaft is in the right position, which is normally at the 12 o'clock position)
The board just fits in on one side before clicking onto the other side, you can then refit the electrical connections, you're then ready to refit the control panel.
Well you will be pleased to know that your repair task is now completed! It really is as simple as that Hopefully now your newly gained tumble dryer DIY skills have meant that you now have a fully functioning tumble dryer again.
