When I switch the power on the red light for the left hand oven comes on. When the oven is switched on the outside of the element heats up and then turns off. The elements new could it be the thermostat?

The oven is a Rangemaster 110 the only other number I can see on it is O025660 in the bottom corner of the sticker on the back. I got a new element and pygmy lamp from you today thinking the element was at fault but now I am a bit unsure and dont want to just buy spares guessing.

It is difficult to be sure without seeing your problem but if the element heats for over a few minutes before shutting down for several minutes it would suggest the oven is overheating and cutting out. If this is the case the thermostat would likely to have stuck or failed and be causing the overheating.
