accidentally mowed over a nylon anti-weed woven sheet which got partially wrapped around the blade. Removed what I could see, but the motor seems to be straining & can smell burning rubber (which turned out to be the fan belt slipping under strain).

stripped the unit parts off. the centrifugal baseplate drive assembly seems excessively stiff so would like to strip that down. but having removed the circlip and tapping the axel with a hammer it won't budge. I can see the spring mechanism through the small cut-outs and actuate the levers with a screwdriver but the pulley section still won't budge. Advise please!

The shaft may have stuck on the bearing, use penetrating oil and a sharp tap to try and release it. We think the brake shoes may be partially released by rotating in one direction.
