Siemens Aquastop hose

Hi I have a Siemens wm14s794gb/01 washing machine but it has a fault on the 'block' within the hose. It leaks at a rate of 1 bucket per 2 washes. The hose is supposed to monitor is leaks occur, not cause them. Does this hose need to be fitted or can it be substituted for a plain / generic hose without the electronics - or is the machine programmed to not function without this hose connected to the machine's "brain"? Hoses of more than £100 is a lot of money for something to prevent leaks which actually leaks itself. Cheers Peter

Most machines have a solenoid valve on the machine where the hose is attached to stop the water from filling until required. On Aquastop machines this valve is no longer in the machine but at the tap end of the hose. If the hose freezes and splits on most machines it would flood until the water supply is turned off. This would not occur until the machine is used on an Aquastop machine so a flood is less likely. To use a normal hose you would have to fit a inlet valve to control filling.
