how often should this filter be changed?

This filter is listed as 'lifetime' suggesting that you do not need to replace it. But unlike other lifetime filters there is no mention of washing to remove the fine dust that will over time reduce airflow and vacuum efficiency. Depending on use we would 'suggest' that the filter is changed every three years or so and if you have dogs or cats then it is likely to build up a smell and may benefit from more frequent replacement.
