I have purchased new control knobs , because existing ones melted out of shape, new ones have started to do the same when grill is on,I was wonderiing is it possible that the grill element could be faulty and over heating?

Hi Kate, you'll be able to tell if your element is overheating if food burns when you grill it. I'd suggest it could be a damaged door seal that could be letting heat escape from the oven.
