Removal of old door glass & sealant

I need to replace my smashed outer door glass. what is the best way to remove the remaining glass & sealant

    Wearing safety glasses and gloves you can carefully cut off the old sealant and glass shards with a sharp chisel or craft knife. Extreme care must be taken to avoid slipping and cutting your self on the glass shards.
