Display board

Am I to assume that if I try and select a programme on the display board but it won't select (or it is random) that the board is broken and needs replacing rather than the housing on top. When I press to select, it may or may not allow me to select a programme, if it does then the machine works perfectly. If I cannot depress the selection then it won't start at all. The on/off button and all the other status selectors are working fine, but I think the programme select bit is knackered. Is this likely to be the problem?

You would need to gain access to the board to check for any signs of damage, also check the control buttons as they may be broken. If the buttons are ok it is likely the board is not responding.
