I have an old version of this detector that when set to live cable buzzes constantly, I have discovered that it is the wifi causing this malfunction. Does this newer version exhibit the same problem?

To detect live cables it is reacting to the electromagnetic radiation from cables but any 'radio transmission' like WiFi baby alarms or operating cordless/mobile phone's may be picked up depending on their signal strength. It is likely the new one will operate similarly.
