How do I get these to fit properly?
I have tried fitting replacements but there is a metal piece in the centre that when upright prevents the paddles from sliding/cliping into place. If I bend this piece down and flush with the drum then the paddles slide/clip perfectly into place, however when I use the machine the paddles are not held securely and snap off (again!). I now need to order more of these but need to know how I get them to hold in place after fitting - i.e. how do I get the metal piece in position to hold them?

- I used a short length of thin string to lift the metal tab back up after fitting the paddle. Before fitting I bent the tab flush with the drum. I then looped the string around the tab (no knots) and fed the loose ends through a hole in the paddle. The paddle was pushed into place and then gripping both ends of the string I pulled the tab back up. The string was then removed by pulling one loose end.
