Capacitor?

I have checked all filters, pumps and motors - all are clean and work. the washing machine will go into a mode and fill and drain with water and the drum turns but will not spin - is this the capacitor?

    We dont have your model number to be specific but nearly all washing machines do not use a capacitor to power one of the windings in the way a tumble dryer would so this problem is almost certainly not related to this part. Does the drum go to the spin speed when empty?. If it does then the problem is either worn brushes or a balanced load problem. If it spins empty place 3 or 4 large towels on there own and retry as the machine should be able to balance them correctly.
