What is the exrta bit on this hose compared with a normal washing machine hose

This is an 'Aquastop' hose. If the supply hose split due to freezing the water passes into a second outer hose and the pressure is used to turn of the water supply to prevent a flood. We think on this hose you can replace it with a standard hose.
