Hi thel15, if the washing machine isn't working, but the lights are still on, it could be any number of things causing the problem. Basically, there could be a problem at any point from when the water enters the washing machine, to when it drains out. Use this as your guide and check for any blockages, build up or damage to any of the parts of your washer.
