  Knocking the bearings out with a drift and hammer can damage the drum. Professionals use a bearing puller that passes a bolt through the centre of the bearing and a cup that fits across the drum face. By tightening the bolt it draws the bearing out into the chamber of the cup. Try phoning tool hire shops if you cannot fabricate something to do the job.
