I am sure this is the correct part but can you confirm that this is replaced by simply pulling off the old one from the D shapes spline and pushing on the new one

We believe they can only be pushed on in the correct position, the control knob has a D shape that pushes onto the switch behind. Make sure the switch and the knob are in the off position to line them up correctly before fitting.
