are any special tools required to fit the Bosch Washing Machine control module (part No. ES759485)?

I have established that there is current running to the connecting block at the control module, and I believe the problem with the faulty machine, lies in the program switching mechanism. Does this mean having to replace the whole control module? Customer is disappointed because his Bosch is only 4 years old

Hi Noggin Fitting a control module should not be attempted unless you have real confidence in what you are doing. It is fiddly, as it requires the fascia to be removed, and everything must be connected correctly when done or the machine won't work at all. If you feel you are comfortable doing this, I'd say go ahead, however if not, I'd recommend calling out a technician.
