Dishwasher Hinge

Hi there, I have a hotpoint BFI620 built in dishwasher. Last night the door was wide open as I was about to load it and I heard a bang as though something was dropped on the metal. When I looked, the left door hinge has come detached from the door. I can hook it back over, but there is no pressure from an internal mechanism and when I try and close the door, the hinge moves a couple of inches, but will not shut. I cannot move the hinge out of the way to close the door, let alone see how to repair it. Any thoughts on this at all?

This can be a common problem with appliances of this type, It sounds like one of the door cables has broken and the balance spring no longer is connected. The part Stock Number: ES492706 has now a video explaining the replacement of this part. To close the door carefully press the hinge 'lever' in contact with the door as you slowly lift and close the door (may need a little fiddling before it closes).
