Hello I have just taken delivery of a new BEKO chest freezer. The seal on the door has no real suction. I had an engineer out who said that the BEKO seals are quite firm and that it was the weight of the lid that produced the seal. He said that the lid and the seal were fine but I am not convinced. Does that sound right to you and how tight should the seal be - I get little or no resistance when I open it

Door seals on upright freezers are magnetic, when the door opens on an upright cold air 'falls' out and is replaced with warm. When the door is closed this warm air shrinks as it cools and will often hold the door closed untill the air pressure balances. This gives the impression of a strong seal. On a chest freezer if there was no draft it would not need a seal at all. The cold air being denser would remain in like water in a bath. Therefore the seals are not magnetic and they do not give this suction effect. There is unlikely to be any problem with your freezer, pop down and compare with chest freezers in your local showroom if unsure.

Unfortunately for this model the door is sold as a complete unit, the door seal is not sold seperately. Here is the stock number for the door: ES145954

Hi Fluff This door seal is only suitable to fit the GL482 LEC model I'm afraid. I can't seem to match the LEC1204W in our database of LEC fridges & freezers. If you could double check your fridge for the model number we would be happy to find the right seal for you.
