when you press in the grill button the grill lights but when you release the button the grill goes out. you must keep the button pressed in to keep the grill lit. 1 Answer

It is likely to be the thermocouple so check that first.

Unlikely, Make sure the electrodes are completely clean and free from spillage and replace if required.
