My CDA648FS/1 isn't working right, could the Thermal fuse be broken?

The thermal fuse is usually to protect the defrost heater from causing damage if left on. If it fails it can stop the defrost cycle from working.

Answer this question

Hi. When the above stopped working, after a day, when plugged in again, it fires up and gets down to -20, then stops! I have replaced a couple of parts but this has not cured the problem. The compressor seems to be working but there is something wrong with the temperature control. Taking the back plate off inside the freezer, there appears to be two sensors. One plugs into a socket at the back of the freezer compartment (top left). This is clipped to the main body of the cooling system. The second has a single wire which dissapears into the back of the appliance and has no plug, and appears to be clipped to the pipe which goes up to the fridge compartment. The appliance is only two years old and this seems a short life for even a basic cheap and cheerful appliance.
