My Zanussi dryer stopped heating. We tested the heating element and thermostats for continuity as well as for flow when plugged in and they tested ok. However the element will only slightly warm up upon starting a program (for about 30 sec) and go off again. It doesn't even glow or anything. Will replacing it work or is there some other fault elsewhere to be looked at? Thanks.

If the dryer is not heating up then it is likely to be the element, check the element for any signs of damage and meter it to confirm it has failed. The new element comes with the thermostats fitted to the assembly.

Answer this question

If the heater cover is off the element will cut out as it overheats. It suggests one element is faulty.

Answer this question

I have taken the top off my Zanussi and some of the heating elements glow for about 10 seconds at a time then go off. There is some heat but not enough to dry clothes. Is this the element that is going?

No, If there is a thermostat above the element and there is not sufficient air flow as you have removed the cover. Then the thermostat will cut off the power to the element as it is overheating without the air flow. This is likely to come back on as it cools.

If this is a condenser dryer check that the water is being cleared from the reservoir as many condenser dryers have a float switch to stop the heating to prevent overflowing when full.
