The capacitor has completely burnt out. How can you identify why the capacitor blew or do they blow due to old age? It's 8 years old. Can I just plug in a new one and switch dishwasher on or will this just blow another one if another fault exists. 1 Answer

This filter tries to remove electrical spikes from the mains supply. Occasionally these can damage the filter and may be the reason it has failed. Replacing should resolve the problem.
I unpluged the remins of the Capacitor, is it Ok just to plug in the replacement. Also to remove I pulled out the drai tube as this did not seem to be fixed to anything at the back of the dishwasher. Is this right? 0 Answers
Like a previous reviewer, this faulty component was tripping out a 32 amp mcb in the consumer unit (following a loud bang from the base of the dishwasher). Perhaps Bosch should look in to this re potential safety recall?...removed blackened capacitor as was adjacent cable termination block. Potential fire hazard?. Have ordered repalacement components via this excellent website.
