Even when an element is not powered a resistance from the neutral to earth may trip your earth trip on the fuse board. I still suspect the elements. Try disconnecting them and insulating the wires before retesting. Remember to disconnect the power first.

  • I have tried both of them and seem ok, when cooling down the only thing on is the fan so could It be the board thats telling it to switch off. By Roy - wolves - 03 November 2014

The fault is more likely to be one of the heating elements (probably the one just used).

This cooker is fitted between cupboard units with a 600 gap . Over the years the heat from the cooker has lifted the laminate on the unit doors adjacent to cooker . The fan blows the heat out of the front and I am wondering if it should be sucking in from the front and blowing out at the back . Any ideas ???

The purpose of the cooling an is to remove some of the heat within the case and to blow across the control knobs to help cool and prevent damage. This at best is a gentle breeze and may not be effective enough to prevent damage to surrounding cabinets.

Hi, The fan that works when either the grill or oven are on,will not shut off.Is there a heat sensing device (or similar ) that is connected to the fan that has gone wrong,as the fan is going like a goodun!!If this is the case do you sell it ,or do i have to purchase the whole fan to solve the problem? Thanks Steve

Hi there. Between the control knob and the oven fan there is a timer device. This is set to keep the fan spinning for a couple of minutes after you turn off the oven. It sounds very much like this timing device is the part that has failed - it's not switching, or breaking the circuit, and so the fan just keeps on running. Unfortunately I can't point you in the direction of the timer device as this fan fits hundreds of different models of cooker - your best bet is to call 0845 230 6 230 and talk to one of our Parts Experts, armed with your cooker's model number.

I recently bought a new fan for my Stoves Newhome 058585102 oven as nothing seemed to be working apart from the elements. I fitted the new fan on my own (surprised myself!) and it works very well. I discovered that there is another fan - presumably the cooling fan - but it is grinding round very slowly and my oven is overheating. The pictured fan on your page looks like a solid, metal affair, while the fan in my oven is a very lightweight plastic one. It does match my model number, so is this what I need?
