Hotpoint tcd975 are there motor bearings available or is it a new motor?
Answer this Question (2 Answers)
- The 2 bearings in the motor are 6001 series 12x28x8mm (metal shielded) and cost approx. £2 each delivered on ebay. On mine the inner race of one had rotated on the shaft wearing down the 25.4mm spacer by about 0.8mm. This wear can be accommodated by a number of 0.2mm or 0.3mm M12 (12mm hole) spacers. I fitted a new bearing, with bearing adhesive and spaced correctly. Total cost £4.10. It will give it a few more months of use. However, my opinion is that the original motor is poorly engineered ie cheaply made with poor tolerances. The two halves of the bearing housings are pressed steel held together by 4 self-tapping screws.

There are no motor bearings available from the dryer manufacturer, If these are needed then replace the motor.
