Hi there, if your food is freezing, it's most probably an overactive thermostat. Try removing and readjusting the thermostat control knob and thermostat itself. If that doesn't work, I'd wager you'd need a new 'stat.
It is a Hotpoint RLM81 and the panel at the back is constantly frosted. The food freezes up. I have tried switching off and defrosting but the problem returns. The cylinder at the back is very hot. Not sure what to do. Can it be repaired?
- Try a new thermostat. While you are waiting for the part to arrive, put the fridge on a time switch so that it switches on and off at regular intervals and the food doesn't freeze.
There is a red light saying high temperature and I have turned the freezer up to 5 and put it on fast freeze, but nothing is working.

My fridge keeps frosting up and a lot of the food freezes. The fridge/freezer is a Hotpoint and is a frost free one. We keep turning it off and defrosting it but after 1/2 days the ice is back. Someone said to change thermostat but i need advise on how to change it. Thank you.

Hi Joe, Please take a look at our advice centre to read articles on problems similar to yours. Look inside to see if you're able to turn the temperature down. If not it could well be a broken thermostat - if you're still unsure please speak to a qualified engineer for a diagnosis and then give our team a call.
Hi, I have a Bosch Economic larder fridge which kept freezing. I have replaced the thermostat (under the light and dial cover) but it still keeps freezing. Any clues as to where I should look next?

The freezer has stopped working. So after reading an artical on here I thought it could be the thermostat so changed it, but it made no diffence. If I turn the thermostat up to 8 or 9 the fridge ices up and the top of the freezer too, the pump motor does not turn off. How can I fix it?

I have a Hotpoint RLA64 larder fridge that is 3 years old. When the compressor failed to cut out at all and the fridge got colder and colder I thought it must be a thermostat problem and so ordered and fitted the new thermostat. The fridge temperature is down to 5 degrees C but the compressor still keeps going - what else can it be? Is there a relay between thermostat and compressor to switch the compressor on and off?
- Try adjusting the small screw under the plastic cover - this adjusts the temperature range
