Product Q&A

Ask a Question

I followed all the instructions as per the video but now the door won't close tightly or lock. The spring is positioned in front of the part of the latch with the little hook bit. Should I still be able to see the flat part of the spring when it is fully assembled. I thought I would save myself money by replacing this myself but at this rate I am going to have to call someone out....I need my washing machine working!!! Please help someone before I lose the will to live!!!!

When the door is open the handle and latch must be sprung into the locked position moving when the handle is pressed. Have a look at our Video linked from this part for more details as it suggests either the spring is in the wrong position or the latch is not 'hooking' due to it being fitted 'backwards'.

Answer this question

Can't get spring to fit back in. Not sure which way it goes and should have taken photo as we took the old one out. Indesit spring is smaller and fits in neatly but the Hoover HNL 3146 spring is longer. Any help appreciated please wit diagram if possible. Many thanks

Unfortunately the best information we can offer you is in: How to fit a washing machine door handle This video is very similar, however I think that the spring is not fully tensioned until the door surround is in place (hence the loops on the end to prevent the spring 'digging in' as you try to tension it with the cover).

Answer this question

I have read all the other questions and still do not understand which way the spring goes in

  • Please if you read this before Take a "photo when dismantling",this will make the job very simple, without it you will be feeling like its a jigsaw puzzle ,which for 4 pieces is ridiculous, the spring doesn't act with spring back pressure until the inside frame is attatched to the chrome frame, and if you don't get that right it still will not be spring loaded . I have taken the door off but I do not know how to replace the spring can you help please.

  • If the door is off, take a photo, remove the hexagon screws on the inside, and then take another photo noting how the spring is fitted, get this right and its easy, if you do what I did,and just take it apart it is not immediately obvious, and surfing the net, will not help very much either. if you do what I did, be patient and lucky, its actually simple but not immedietely obvious, unlike the indesit, when assembled in the inside frame, it isnt spring loaded until ,you attatch it the the outer chrome frame, and if you don't attatch that right it still will not be tensioned, the frames put together are what hold the spring back into tension. I can't find a way of assembling these pieces back together. How should the latch spring be positioned? I know I should have looked carefully before dismantling it but didn't and now I'm stuck. Thanks

apologies. I am in rented accomodation with no user manual for a washing machine that I just broke the door hook of. All I know is that it is a hover WA 560. I dont know the serial number which is what I think you need.

Hi Door, I'm afraid you're right, I will need a serial number. There should be a number printed somewhere on the machine. Use our guide for help: http://www.espares.co.uk/findingmodelnumbers.aspx#a7

Dear Lufc Without actually seeing your Hoover washing machine, it is impossible to tell what is causing this problem. What I would advise is talking to your local Hoover or washing machine specialist and they should be able to diagnose the problem for you. And that's where we come in! With hundreds of Hoover spares, we're bound to have the part for you.

Hi Vernon I'm afraid here at eSpares we only sell the part - for advise on how to fit we would recommend talking to your local Hoover or washing machine specialist (or ask a friend or relative!) Good luck!
