This is a genuine Dyson spare part.
My Dyson DC07 Origin has packed up after 7 great years of service, sadly they dont make this model anymore and I have tried the subsequent models but cant surpass this one, however it was making a funny rattling sound when my wife was using it and she switched it off as she said it smelled odd, latter when I plugged it it in it make a very loud rattling sound, then a growling sound, smelled of burning and slowly died (in about 60 seconds), I suspect this to be the motor. I am about to buy a new motor from you and as you say it looks a bit fiddly but how hard can it be? my main question is do you think it is the motor and is the new motor you sell the same suction and power as the original one? If the machine does not run properly with the belt and canister removed then it is very likely that the motor has failed.The new motor should be as powerful as the original fitted.
Why does my vacumn make a very loud noise when it comes back over, yet does not when going forward.

remove the drive belt and check the bearings on the brush roller.
My DC14 just stopped while vacuuming and smoke came out of motor casing. Is it the motor that needs replacing? 1 Answer

It is likely the motor is faulty if you have tried replacing the fuse and still have a problem.
I was told my Full gear has a more powerful or better motor than others hence being more expensive.... but this motor fits any DC07 cleaner. Does this mean I will be installing a less powerful motor? Otherwise what is the difference between a full gear and any other DC07?

This is the correct motor for a Dyson DC07 'Full gear' model.
The clattering sound only seems to last 5-10 seconds and only on start up. Doesn't appear to be related to the brushes or belts. After start up the sound doesn't continue. Is this a motor problem?

It is more likely to be the brushes or the belt so try disconnecting the belt to identify if the problem continues.
