Would failure of the suppressor capacitor cause my Hetty not to start? My capacitor ends with 1140 rather than 1104 as printed on the advertised spare. How do I check if it is ok - my simple multimeter does not have a capacitor-check function 3 Answers

If the suppressor goes short it will cause the fuse to blow as it is across the supply. If it goes open circuit it would not be noticed in the operation of the appliance other than the radiated interference from the motor would be significantly higher and would be likely to cause problems to radio television and even mobile phone reception in the nearby area.
- Yes! It could well prevent the motor from running. Same thing happened on my Henry - removed the suppressor and she fired up like a good'un!

No, this is to prevent interference from the motor.
Is prevention of radio interference the only function of this. Can I use cleaner without it until I get the part. 1 Answer

I've taken the top cover off the Henry Vacuum cleaner to find what is, I think, the Supressor Capacitor Assembly component, blown up. The details it has printed on it are: PME 127 M 40/085/56 0.15uF X2 250V~SH Is it the same thing?

Would it be possible for you to get in contact with your model number, as this sounds like it is the same part as what you've mentioned but we'd need to determine if it is compatible.
I was using the hoover ,switched off then a few minutes later saw the smoke coming out. On checking it out I found suppressor burnt.
