washes perfect there is a grinding noise when on a spin .but goes rite throu cicul ok

If the grinding is constant as water is draining check the 'filter' for coins pins hair grips etc. If it drains ok but gets noisier as it spins and the noise is present when turned by hand. Then the problem is likely to be bearings.

If this is the same as on the original pump you may have a control board fault. If the original pump had failed re order the pump as it could (but unlikely) be faulty.

Check if the water is draining out due to the drain hose set lower than the water level if this is the case then adjust the hose to lift it above the water level. If the water is being 'pumped' out but the pump does not start untill water is half way up the drum there may be a pressure switch fault or a pcb/module fault.
there is control ligth in the panel, but the motor does not functioning?

I have tried to remove the bottom filter from my washing machine as I want to clean it. I have given it a quarter turn left which has allowed the machine to drain and thought that I would be able to draw the filter out but no luck. I dont want to force it as this would probably wreck the thing. Any ideas ? Many thanks
- Sounds like the filter on my Indesit. Make sure you get a spare from Espares first, as the problem may be a foreign body stuck between the filter and inlet hose. Use a pair of pliers and firmly work the filter clockwise and anticlockwise. With luck it will slowly yield anticlockwise and you can draw it out, beward some water will follow it !. Check for objects in the filter housing and actually at the pump impellor at the back, buttons, small coins or eve bits of wicker laundry basket, a avourite in ours. If you have the spare ready, then a broken filter is'nt a delay.
i have a whirlpool with a pump that matches the above universal one. could anyone tell me whether the pump blade is supposed to be slightly stiff every half turn as i need to tell whether the pump is sticking or there is a problem with the feed to the pump? just like to know before i buy, regards chris bowman
- I fitted one myself recently and it does go stiff due to the magnet fitted.
my hoover HNF7167 is filling and emptying constantly. the start lights are on 60 mins &30 mins, the delay start light, time saver light & stain blaster light is also on. will this part fix the problem? 1 Answer

Hi T J, it sounds as if there's a problem with the motor, the bearings or the belt of the machine. First, check if the belt is still attached. To do this, give the drum a spin; if it spins more freely than usual, you'll need to reattach the belt. If the belt is ok, check and tighten the drum pulley. Next, check the bearings. If the drum or pulley are wobbling, the bearings are gone. Lastly check the motor - have it come loose? You should also check for any stray socks and the like. If you still can't diagnose after all that, it's likely to be a failed motor.
my zanussi machine was not draining so I fitted the new pump on, but still is not draining and it has started to leak, what can i do? 1 Answer
